Vehicle Pick Up / Return
Wendekreisen operates depots in Auckland & Christchurch. All pick ups and returns should be made to one of these.

On special request Wendekreisen can arrange pick up & return of vehicles in Wellington or Picton. A relocation fee may apply.

When you collect the vehicle, the vehicle will be shown to you and all functions explained. Please ask any questions you may have at this time.

Depot Business Hours
Monday to Saturday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (08:30 - 17:00) local time.

Sunday / Public Holidays: 8:30 am - 1:00 pm (08:30 - 13:00)

Pick ups or returns outside of business hours are available on request. We charge for late returns on a daily basis. Customers are advised to arrange for accomodation before and after the hire period.

Airport Transfers & Vehicle delivery
Wendekreisen provide a free transfer to and from airports and our depots.

Auckland Opening hours are from 8:30am to 17:00pm. After your arrival at Auckland Airport, please call us on our freephone number and await our representative in front of the Terminal. Should no one be available, please take a taxi to our depot. The cost (will be refunded to you)

If you spend the first nights at a hotel, please ring us on our freephone number to organize transfer. Taxi or shuttle costs from the city will be refunded up to a maximum amount.

Christchurch Customers will be met at the airport if we have your arrival details. If you stay at a hotel, please ring our Christchurch depot (5 minutes from Christchurch airport) to organise transfer.

One Way Rentals
One way rentals are available between all branch locations at no extra charge but must be organised at time of booking.

Change of Pick Up or Return Location
A change of pick up or return destination is subject to availability. If the hirer wishes to change the pick up or return destination after the booking has been confirmed, before or after the rental has commenced, they must obtain approval from Wendekreisen Travel. A relocation fee will apply if approval from Wendekreisen is not sought or granted.

Returning Vehicles
Vehicles have to be returned on the date, place and time as shown on the contract. Late returns will result in extra charges.

The hirer is obliged to return the vehicle :
  • With the fuel level that is marked on the damage sheet
  • In a reasonable clean condition
  • With empty holding tank and toilet
Extra charges will apply for not meeting these criteria.

Rental Charges
Rental charges for campervans / motorhomes & recreational vehicles are calculated on a daily basis, irrespective of pick-up time and include unlimited kilometres and GST. There is a minimum rental period of 7 days.

Charges for cars are based on a 24 hour period.

Deposit
To confirm a booking a non-refundable deposit is required to process the reservation. The balance of the total rental cost is due when the vehicle is collected. This payment should be made by credit card.

Insurance
STANDARD INSURANCE (Compulsory ) : Payable per day with an excess applicable. A credit card imprint is sufficient.

Tyre & Windscreen insurance is available per day extra is offered with this option.

INSURANCE OPTION 1 : A fee per day will reduce the excess for any vehicle, the cost for this excess reduction includes tyre and windscreen insurance (nil excess). A maximum charge per hire applies.

Exclusions
The hirer will be fully liable for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens. The hirer is furthermore liable for puncture repairs or repairs to damaged tyres unless tyre and windscreen option is purchased.

Security Bond
The security bond is equal to the excess amount under the insurance option chosen (see above). This amount is collected at the start of hire. A credit card imprint is sufficient for these purposes. The security bond will be refunded at the end of hire according to the conditions below.

Security Bond Refunds
The bond is fully refundable on return of the vehicle provided that:
  • The vehicle is returned to the agreed location at the agreed time
  • No damage is incurred to the vehicle or any 3rd party property
  • Waste water tank and toilet have been emptied
  • No items belonging to Wendekreisen Travel have been lost or damaged
  • All traffic fines have been paid
  • The vehicle is returned in a reasonably clean condition
  • The security bond can be paid by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card
    If paying by credit card an imprint will be taken, but the account will not be debited if all of the above conditions are met
Travel Insurance
In New Zealand personal injury is covered by the Accident Compensation Commission, however, Wendekreisen strongly recommends that all clients take out Personal Travel Insurance.

Drivers Licence and Minimum Age
A valid national drivers licence is required. National drivers licences, which are not in English, need to be presented in conjunction with an offical translation or valid international drivers licence. The minimum driver age is 18 years.

Restricted Roads
Vehicles can only be driven on sealed or well-maintained roads. No vehicle can be taken on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

Cancellation Fees
Please note that the Booking Deposit is non-refundable.

In the event that you wish to cancel your booking the following fees apply:
  • If cancelled 21 days prior to pick up = No fee
  • If cancelled within 21 days of pick-up = 20% of total reservation cost
Early Return
No refund for any unused portion of the rental is available.

Rental Period Extension
A hire extension is subject to availaibility and authorisation from Wendekreisen Travel. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.

Breakdowns/Mechanical Failure
In the event of mechanical problems, the hirer should contact Wendekreisen Travel as soon as possible on the free phone number provided and we will direct you to the closest service center.

Repair Approval
Repairs of up to a pre-determined amount may be made without authorisation and will be reimbursed, provided that all receipts are submitted and the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Amounts above this require approval from Wendekreisen Travel.

No responsibility will be accepted for accommodation charges, meals or out-of-pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown unless it has been approved by Wendekreisen Travel. Our liability extends only to refund of rental charges for any days of total loss of vehicle usage caused by a mechanical breakdown, provided the hirer notifies Wendekreisen Travel as soon as possible to give us the opportunity to rectify the problem.

Subsitute Vehicles
We reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund. Should this not be possible, we will refund each full day of the hire that is lost.
