Maintenance and Servicing
Pacific Horizon's modern fleet of Campervans & Motorhomes are updated regularly and serviced to the highest standards.

Nationwide Dealer Network and our 24 hour freecall helpline are there should you require assistance. If you incur any minor repair bills we will give you a refund (up to NZ$ 100.00). Just produce receipts. If major repairs are needed, protect yourself by getting us to authorise it first. problems encountered with the vehicle or equipment must be reported to Pacific Horizon as soon as practicable. This gives Pacific Horizon the opportunity to rectify the problem within the rental period. Failure to do so will compromise any claim that may eventuate after the hire is finished. Retrospective claims will not be accepted for all New Zealand RV rentals.

Accidents and Breakdowns
The liability of Pacific Horizon Ltd, or its agents, extends to either replacing your vehicle with a similar one, or refunding your hire charge for any days you lose the total use of the vehicle.

Airport and Hotel Transfers
Our complimentary shuttle will pick you up from the airport, ferry or hotel and return you there after your hire.

You receive a travel pack which includes:

Discounts for Long Hire
If you hire for 21 days or more ask about the 'long hire discounts' you are entitled to.

One Way Hiring
Pacific Horizon has 4 fully operational terminals allowing one-way hire at no extra cost. You must however start and finish your hire at whichever terminal is nominated on your rental agreement. Change of destination must be authorised by Pacific Horizon management and a relocation fee will apply.

Vehicle Security Deposit (VSD)
Clients are responsible for the first Excess of vehicle damage and/or loss of the vehicle contents. This vehicle security deposit is to cover the application of an insurance excess for damage to the vehicle, third party or property damage in the event of an accident, a bond to ensure that the vehicle is returned undamaged to the correct location, on time, refuelled, in a clean and tidy condition with no missing or damaged items, emptying the waste water and toilet and as security against any traffic infringements and associated costs.

Refer to (2) below for a waiver option available for the insurance excess only. A credit card imprint is required on all rental agreements. In the absence of a credit card, Pacific Horizon requires a cash security deposit for all drivers. This credit card imprint or cash will be held for 21 days after the return of the vehicle.

Insurance
Level 1) Standard Insurance (compulsory) : Standard Insurance is an additional fee per day.

This insurance is fully comprehensive and insures against recoverable 3rd party accident damage, theft and break-ins (excluding personal belongings). The standard insurance has a damage excess applies. A credit card imprint (see Vehicle Security Clause above) is taken on the rental agreement to cover the excess. Part or the entire excess amount is only taken if there is an accident or damage.

Level 2) Street Smart Insurance (optional) : To reduce the damage excess, you can choose to pay a non-refundable damage excess waiver per day (max 50 days). This reduces the excess. This is on a per accident or incident basis. A new waiver is required for the remaining days of the hire after any accident or damage occurs. A credit card imprint (or cash bond) is still required to cover items other than damage as noted in the Vehicle Security Deposit Clause above.

Level 3) Freedom Plus Insurance (optional) : To reduce the damage excess further, you can choose to pay a non-refundable damage excess waiver per day (max 50 days). This further reduces the excess. This is on a per accident or incident basis. A new waiver is required for the remaining days of the hire after any accident or damage occurs. A credit card imprint (or cash bond) is still required to cover items other than damage as noted in the Vehicle Security Deposit Clause above.

This is not available for drivers under 25 or with less than 1 year full licence.

Please Note
Standard insurance is compulsory. This is to be paid on pick up. A credit card imprint or cash bond is required on all hires to cover the Vehicle Security Guarantee regardless of level of insurance taken.

21-24 year olds have the option to take level 2 if they choose. Insurance levels 2 and 3 are capped to a maximum of 50 days. Please note this insurance is charged per incident not per hire. Therefore the excess (all or part thereof) will be charged per incident.

Hire Period
Hire period Minimum is 7 days. Collect from 8 am onwards on your first day of hire and return no later than 6 pm on the last day. Days of hire are calculated on the number of actual calendar days you have the vehicle.

Short hires of 6 days and under are often available. Mileage is limited to 250Km per day. For hires less than 4 Days an additional cleaning fee will apply.

Pets
Pets or livestock are not permitted in any vehicle.

All Inclusive Hire Charges
All hire charges include New Zealands Goods and Services Tax. You have unlimited mileage. Freshly laundered linen and all cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery is supplied. There is a charge for a colour TV (except in 6 Berth), BBQ, picnic set, snow chains, cell phone and bike rack.

Drivers Licence
Hirer and driver must be over 21 years of age and produce a valid driver's licence. New Zealand recognises driver’s licences issued by your own country, as well as International drivers licenses. If you are a member of an Automobile Association bring your membership card with you and gain additional privileges and information on travel throughout New Zealand.

Driving Your Vehicle
The speed limit on the open road is 100kph (60mph) but 80kph is the recommended limit in your vehicle. For the Eclipse 4+2 and Eclipse 6, the speed limit is 90kph. In built up areas the limit is 50kph (30mph) for all vehicles.

A copy of New Zealand Traffic Rules is supplied with your vehicle. It explains the driving rules in force in New Zealand.

Driving Fines
If you are fined or penalised for breaching any traffic laws, you are liable for the fine and/or associated administration costs.

Booking Deposit
To secure a reservation, we require a deposit. The balance of the hire will be deducted from your credit card 14 days before your hire commences, unless there is a cancellation or other arrangements have been made.

Cancellations
  • Deposit is forfeited if bookings are cancelled after they have been confirmed
  • 25% of the hire costs will be taken for cancellations within 14 days of the start of the hire
  • 50% of the hire costs will be taken for cancellations within 7 days of the start of the hire
  • No refunds for cancellations made after the travel or travel date has commenced
Major Credit Cards accepted: Mastercard, Visa, Amex and Diners Club.

Booking Amendments
Alterations to a booking incur a fee per amendment. In the case of a booking extension, this fee will be waived.

Read This Carefully
Prices may be subject to change due to factors beyond the control of Pacific Horizon. Any changes in price affecting a client between the time of booking and payment received will be advised immediately. The company takes no responsibility for any detention, delay, loss, damage or injury that a hirer might experience no matter how it is caused or by whom.

The company's rental agreement is the sole contract for hiring the vehicle, between the company and the hirer and passenger(s). No refunds are payable on accommodation, or vehicles not being available, where a hirer or passenger amends, cancels or seeks to vary agreements after departure. These conditions cannot be varied or altered or waived by any employee, agent or representative of the company or by anyone providing services or facilities.

The company cannot be bound by any representative or statement unless it is confirmed in writing by the company’s directors or management. Your travel agent will forward deposits and other payments to us on your behalf, but your travel agent is not our agent for the purpose of the receipt of monies. The company reserves the right to provide a comparably high standard vehicle where a booked vehicle becomes unavailable through servicing or reasons beyond their control.
