We supply Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Surf and RAV4 which we have found to be reliable 4WD vehicles in New Zealand conditions.

They are all automatics and fitted with air-conditioning, CD players, power steering, ABS, airbags. The larger Prado and Surf models are economical turbo diesels with dual range gearboxes while the RAV4 models are petrol powered full-time 4WD.

Unlike most rental companies we do not limit you to just sealed roads and we ploverland no restrictions on which roads you choose to travel. Drive unlimited kilometers with all hires.

Our 4WD's can be used on any road in New Zealand or 'off-road' . For example on these back country routes you can safely experience a real 4WD holiday in the the most scenic areas of this wonderful country.

The South Island has many opportunities for the traveller with a good four wheel drive. Try driving to the mountains then walk a bush track, perhaps take a mountain bike with you, hunting or fishing, or skiing in winter. Perhaps join in a guided tour by organised 4WD tag-along trips.


If you are a new-comer or an experienced off-road driver there are many suitable routes for you. We will provide you with maps and Ken Sibly's 4WD South Island guides.

Find a track from the book that suits the time you have available, or contact us to discuss other options. Many are suitable for single vehicles but as noted some will more safely travelled with two vehicles in winter or wet conditions.


Maybe take our summer Camping Kit on tour and free camp in the bush, or one of the many camping grounds with cooking and wash facilities.
