NZMR reserves the right to charge the single room supplement cost. Motorcycles All our rental motorcycles are maintained by fully qualified motorcycle technicians, and are New Zealand Government Transport certified for rental vehicles. Most models have hard panniers. If hard panniers are not available, soft luggage is available. During the tour NZMR is not obliged to replace a damaged motorcycle, but will do so at their discretion. Licence Requirements Most overseas licences are valid for use in New Zealand; the same restrictions apply as the country of origin. Riders must be 18 years of age or over and have at least one years riding experience. Licences must have a motorcycle endorsement. If your licence does not have a motorcycle endorsement an international driving permit will be required. Passports and Visas The customer or the customer's travel agent is responsible for all paperwork requiring entry to New Zealand. Deposits and Final Payments - Tours To reserve a tour an initial booking deposit per person is required. This booking deposit secures your place on the tour of your choice; the balance is due 60 days before the departure date. If you book your tour within 60 days of the departure date the total tour cost is due on your booking. Meals A cooked or continental breakfast most days. Most meals are included in the fully guided tours, including welcome and farewell banquets. Special Arrangements We can arrange vegetarian meals, a smoking room, intercoms, backrests, wet weather clothing, gloves, helmets, fax and E-mail service, mobile telephones, plus many other things. Please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary bookings. There may be a small charge for some of the above. Cancellations and Refunds Customers can cancel their rental or tour booking at any time. Cancellations must be received in writing. If you cancel your rental or tour booking the following will apply: Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to the departure date are subject to a cancellation fee of the initial 20% or a pre-determined amount per person booking deposit. Cancellations received between 59-40 days are subject to a fee of 30% of the total rental or tour cost, 39-14 days are subject to a fee of 50% of the total rental or tour costs. If a cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to departure date the full 100% of the rental or tour cost is payable and no exceptions to the above can be made. You may however provide a substitute person. Please look into Cancellation insurance, it is highly recommended. NZMR is not required to give any refunds once your rental or tour has started regardless of the reason for the participant/s being unable to complete the tour. No refunds are payable on any unused accommodation, meals, motorcycle rental, or any part of the tour, which is unused. A good travel insurance policy is highly recommended. In the unlikely event NZMR have to cancel a fully guided tour, your monies paid will be refunded in full. NZMR reserve the right to cancel any tour up to three weeks before the start of the tour. In this case NZMR will give you the opportunity of placement in any other tours. Default or Damage NZMR the owner, shall have the right to terminate the tour of any person or persons and take immediate possession of the motorcycle if the hirer fails to comply with any of the terms of the rental agreement, or if the motorcycle is damaged. The termination of the hire under the authority of this clause shall be without prejudice to the other rights of the owner and the rights of the hirer under this agreement or otherwise. Tour Guides and Support Van Our tour guides have been very carefully chosen and trained to meet our high standard and professional service, and are always available to help with anything you may need during the tour. You are free to travel with the guide or travel at your own pace. On fully guided tours we have a rule that a minimum of two motorcycles must travel together. Depending on the number of people on the tour, you will have either one or two tour guides. If there are two tour guides, one will travel in the support van and the other on a motorcycle. Your luggage, apart from your daily items you carry with you, will be waiting in your hotel room when you arrive. Please limit your luggage to two suitcases per person. Extra Motorcycle Rental If you require the motorcycle before the start of the tour or at the end of the tour please let us know on your booking form. If a motorcycle is hired prior to an organised tour and is damaged in an accident caused by the hirer, and therefore cannot be used for the initially booked tour, NZMR is not obliged to replace the motorcycle, and no refunds are available for the remaining hire period. Insurance All tours include motorcycle insurance covering damage, theft and fire to the motorcycle. A bond equal to the excess amount is required from the hirer at the time the motorcycle is picked up. This bond is to be secured with a credit card slip and is fully refundable when the motorcycle is returned undamaged to New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals. Any damage to the motorcycle up to the insurance excess will be deducted from the security bond. Responsibility New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals does not assume responsibility for bodily injury, nor for any damage or loss to personal effects. However while in New Zealand, you are covered by ACC (accident compensation corporation), which will cover medical expenses for any vehicle accident you may suffer. All tours include motorcycle insurance covering damage, theft and fire to the motorcycle. Security Bond A bond equal to the excess amount is required from the hirer at the time the motorcycle is picked up. This bond is to be secured by credit card and is fully refundable when the motorcycle is returned to NZMR undamaged. The hirer is separately liable for any accessories hired with the motorcycle, but no bond is required for these items. Third Party Insurance We offer an additional insurance called third party insurance which covers damage to other person's property, and can be purchased at our rental shops. It is not compulsory but recommended! CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) CDW is also available, this reduces the Bond amount for any one accident, and is only available for rental periods of more than 7 days and riders aged 35 years and over. Complete Insurance Package For a complete insurance package you can purchase both Third Party Insurance and CDW Insurance (with reduced excess). Medical Insurance Under New Zealand law you cannot be sued for personal injury or death. ACC (Accident Compensation Commission) prevents claims for bodily injury or death by accident. However, we have public liability cover for damage to personal property and injury as a result of an accident on our motorcycles. For any motor vehicle accident in New Zealand our customers are covered by ACC (Accident Compensation Commission), for medical treatment as a result of that vehicle accident. If the customer wants personal private care a travel and personal insurance should be arranged by themselves.
