All rentals are subject to deposits to cover additional costs such as fuel, insurance and optional services.

Rates Include Unlimited Kilometres, Loss Damage Waiver (LDW, provides Accident Damages Cover to the Hertz Vehicle and/or Third Party Property subject to excesses that can be reduced), Airport Concession Fee Recovery/Ferry Terminal Fee Recovery (ACFR) and New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 12.5%.

Rates Exclude Accident Excess Reduction (AER), Refuelling Service, One Way Fees/Location Surcharge, Airport Concession Fee Recovery/Location Surcharge (rentals collected at the Kerikeri and Gisbourne locations will incur a fee), Optional Extras (baby seats etc).

Minimum rental age is 21 years (25 years for Luxury Tourer, Luxury Sports & Tourer V8 4WD). Renters must present a full, valid national driver's license which has been held for at least one year. Driver's Licences issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a current International Drivers Permit.

There is no extra charge for additional drivers. Minimum rental age and other requirements for additional drivers will be the same as for the renter. Additional authorised drivers must be registered on an Authority to Drive which forms part of the Rental Agreement.

NOTE: Restricted, Provisional or Probationary Licences will not be accepted.

All rentals are subject to a deposit which covers additional costs such as fuel, insurance and optional services. Hertz accepts all major credit and charge cards (Hertz Charge Cards are not acceptable). If the authorised renter does not hold a card acceptable to Hertz, please see CASH DEPOSIT rule below. Third party credit/charge cards are acceptable if the holder is present.

Foreign visitors presenting a Hertz Inclusive Tour Voucher (ITV) and no credit card will be required to leave a deposit (NZ$ Travellers cheques acceptable). If the customer declines AER, a deposit for the amount of the ADE is required at time of vehicle collection. The deposit is held for the period of the rental.

Each rental is subject to Accident Damage Excess (ADE) which may be reduced by purchasing Accident Excess Reduction (AER) (see below). If the renter declines AER, a credit card authorisation for the full Accident Damage Excess is required at the time of vehicle collection. The authorisation is held for the period of the rental.

Rental days consist of 24 consecutive hours with the minimum rental period being 1 day. For rentals covering both islands, i.e., Multi Island or Continuous rentals, there must be a minimum 3 day hire on one island. When returning the vehicle Hertz allows a grace period of 59 minutes after which the clients will be liable for an extra days charge.

Voluntary upgrades notified to Hertz at the time of rental will be charged the difference between the group booked and the upgrade based on applicable rates. All upgrades are subject to availability.

Additional days will be charged direct to the renter at locally applicable rates.

City Hatchback, Medium Sedans, Tourer Sedans, Tourer AWD Stationwagon, Mini-bus/PMV, Tourer 4WD Wagon;

• 1 and 2 day rentals will incur a one way fee
• Rentals 3 days or more there is no one way fee applicable

Tourer V8 4WD;

• Only available for rentals between a) Auckland and Wellington and b) Christchurch and Queenstown
• 1 and 2 day rentals will incur a one way fee
• Rentals 3 days or more there is no one way fee applicable

Luxury Tourer, Luxury Sports; are not available for one way rentals.

When a customer is having more than one rental or a rental covering both islands, billing will be based on the total number of voucher days. There is no one way fee applicable if the total rental exceeds three days. Only one rental voucher is required. There can be no more than 5 hours between returning one vehicle and collecting the next.

Hertz vehicles cannot be taken on the inter-island ferry. When using the ferry between Wellington and Picton, renters must return the vehicle to the Hertz location at the ferry departure terminal and collect another vehicle upon arrival at the other island.

Only one rental voucher is required for Inter-Island/continuous rentals.

City Hatchback, Medium Sedans, Tourer Sedans, Tourer AWD Stationwagon;

Only one reservation is required i.e, pick up location and ultimate destination. Reservation requests must include all departure and arrival locations as well as flight numbers and/or collection times. For customers travelling between Wellington and Picton, a ferry crossover date is required.

Mini-bus/PMV, Luxury V8 4WD Tourer, Tourer 4WD Wagon;

For rentals covering the North and South Island within the same booking, a separate reservation must be made for each island. A group J or K rental from Auckland to Christchurch must be booked Auckland to Wellington and Picton to Christchurch.

Airport Concession Fee Recovery is applicable at all Airport Locations and Ferry Terminals. Hertz reserves the right to change this rate at any time.

For Multi Island and Continuous Rentals the Fee will apply at each point of collection.

Rentals are subject to Accident Damages Excess (ADE). With the purchase of Accident Excess Reduction (AER) the ADE is reduced to NIL:

NB: If customer declines AER, a credit card authorisation for the ADE amount is required at time of vehicle collection. Authorisation is held for the period of the rental.

Hertz reserves the right to change the Accident Excess Reduction (AER) with 30 days notice in writing.

Any request for Optional Equipment must be made at time of reservation.

All charges for optional equipment are payable by the renter at the Hertz counter (Note ski racks not available for City Hatchback, Luxury Sports, Luxury Tourer & PMV)

Hertz reserves the right, at its own discretion, to capacity control any location, at any time, and for specific programs, according to vehicle availability, demand levels and/or program performance.

Hertz offers free deliveries within a 10KM radius of the following Hertz Metropolitan locations; Auckland, Christchurch, Picton, Wellington - Monday to Friday 10.00am to 4.00pm.

Deliveries outside these hours are on request and a fee will apply please check at time of reservation.

Deliveries from Hertz locations to lodges and resorts are available on request.

This service is available during office hours only and requires a minimum notice to Hertz of 48 hours in advance of rental date. Fees may apply.

Reservations should refer to car groups only, Hertz cannot guarantee to supply a specific make or colour of vehicle.

No refunds will be issued on any unused portion of the inclusive tour voucher.

Hertz New Zealand Vouchers or Hertz Approved Tour Operator Vouchers must be issued for all rentals.

Rentals will be invoiced at the agreed rate applicable on the day of vehicle collection, regardless of any change to the Hertz season, eg: If a vehicle is collected on 25 Sep and is on rent until 5 Oct, the entire rental will be invoiced at the rate applicable as at 25 Sep.

Where a client does not pick up his rental vehicle at the date and time confirmed on the reservation, Hertz reserves the right to charge a No Show fee equal to the cost for one rental day as per the reservation.

Payment should be made for all services provided 14 days after the receipt of a Hertz invoice. If any monies are not paid by the due date, Hertz reserves the right to charge interest on those monies at the rate of 10% per annum calculated from the due date to date of payment.

All rentals are subject to the standard terms and conditions printed on the Hertz Rental Agreement in effect at the time and place of rental.
