All rental charges are calculated on a daily basis (not 24 hours basis) irrespective of pick-up time and include unlimited kilometres and GST.

Pick-ups and drop-offs are possible between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Earlier pick-up can be arranged on request.

Late returns: from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, 25% of the daily rental charge is charged, thereafter a full day is charged.

A deposit of 10% of the total rental charge is required to secure the booking. The remaining charges have to be paid 30 days prior to the commencement of the hire.

The following cancellation fees apply:

If cancelled 28 days prior to pick-up: no fee

If cancelled 27-21 days prior to pick-up: 30% of total reservation cost

If cancelled 20-11 days prior to pick-up: 75% of total reservation cost

If cancelled 10-1 days prior to pick-up or no show: 100% of total reservation cost

A basic insurance per day is compulsory and covers your vehicle and third party property.

The hirer will be liable up to this amount for any damage caused in any one accident or for interior damage. A respective bond will be taken on pick-up of the vehicle. This bond will be fully refunded provided the vehicle is returned in a reasonably clean condition, without damage or involvement in an accident, without any liability to any third party, with a full petrol tank and all traffic offences paid for.

This insurance excludes windscreen and underfloor damage; the windscreen can be insured for an additional fee per day.

Optional

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) - an additional fee per day will reduce the excess in case of damage. This insurance includes windscreen and underfloor damage. A bond will be taken on pick-up.

Insurances do not cover water submersion, saltwater damage, tyre damages, incorrect use of fuel, damages caused by wilful conduct or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and costs to retrieve a bogged vehicle.

Vehicles are not covered by insurance if operated on roads specified as unsuitable for campervans. These include Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel).

Aotea Campervans provide free pick-up and drop-off service to and from airports, within the city boundaries of Christchurch and to and from Auckland City Centre.

All drivers must be 18 years or over. A current domestic (non-provisional), acceptable overseas or international driver's license has to be produced on the commencement of the hire.

Aotea Campervans operate on an unlimited kilometre basis. No extra costs arise irrespective of the number of kilometres you travel.

One-way hires between our depots in Auckland and Christchurch are free of extra charge.

In the event of mechanical problems, an AA service agent will provide on road help throughout New Zealand. Repairs need prior approval by Aotea Campervans and will be reimbursed provided that all receipts are submitted and the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. No responsibility will be accepted for accommodation charges, meals or out-of-pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown. Our liability extends only to refund of rental charges for any days of total loss of vehicle usage caused by a mechanical breakdown, provided the hirer notifies Aotea Campervans as soon as possible to give us the opportunity to rectify the problem.

Cheques will only be accepted as rental payment if paid at least 14 days prior to commencement of rentals. Cheques are not acceptable as excess / bond deposits.

We reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund. Layouts of vehicles might vary slightly due to manufacturer modification of designs. Illustrations and text in any of our publications are a representation only. Refunds will not be paid for voluntary downgrade of the vehicle.

In the unlikely event that the vehicle is not available at the commencement of your rental due to it being repaired from mechanical breakdown or accident or late return from a previous rental we will endeavour to substitute another vehicle of similar or better specifications and quality in its place. If your rental period is reduced or delayed as a result then you will be entitled to a refund of any moneys paid for the period of the rental that the vehicle was not provided. Aotea Campervans will not be liable for any other costs, charges or damages (whether consequential or not) as a result of delay in providing or failure to provide the vehicle.

No refund for any unused portion of the rental is available.

No animals are permitted in our vehicles.
