  • Rental Duration
    When calculating the number of days a vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle's return is counted as the final day of the rental. When a rental moves from one rate season into the next, the calculation is based on both rates.

    Minimum rental period is 5 days.

    Late pick up or early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.

    One-way Rentals
    One-way rentals are available between Auckland and Christchurch.

    Depot Hours
    Auckland and Christchurch: Daily from 0800 to 1700 (we are only closed Christmas Day and New Years Day)

    Courtesy Transfer
    Adventure Deluxe provides free airport to Branch transfer on day of arrival and departure for our Auckland and Christchurch Branches. This service is also available from airport accommodation (does not apply for City Centre or suburbs out of airport area)

    Available between 8.00am and 4.30pm daily.

    Insurance
    A compulsory Insurance charge per day is payable on collection of vehicle, this covers damage over the amount of ('the excess') of the cost of damage to third party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, overhead and underbody damage, towing and recovery costs.

    The excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental.

    Personal Injury is covered through the Accident Compensation Commission, however, Adventure Deluxe strongly recommends that all clients take out Personal Injury Travel Insurance. All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party.

    The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the third party.

    This excess can be reduced to NIL, by the purchase of LDW (Loss and damage waiver).

    Exclusions
    Personal belongings are not covered. We recommend the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal insurance.

    All Excess Reduction is void if the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by wilful conduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

    The Hirer will be responsible for the cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged, regardless of the LDW (Loss and Damage Waiver) being taken.

    The hirer will be responsible for the cost to replace keys which have become lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.

    Overhead and underbody damage, all damage above the level of the drivers cabin and the underbody of the vehicle is the hirers liability for the full cost of repairs.

    Vehicle Insurance Bond
    On pick up of the vehicle, an insurance Bond is payable by cash, Traveller's Cheques, or credit cards.

    If the Loss and Damage Waiver (LDW) has been taken, the Excess will be reduced to nil (subject to Insurance Exclusions)

    The Insurance Bond is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged, with a clean interior. We reserve the right to retain a soiling fee if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition. The toilet and wastewater tank must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle, or an additional soiling fee will be retained.

    Security Deposit
    A security deposit is required on collection of vehicle to ensure campervan is returned on due date complete as taken, and in a clean condition. Vehicles returned in an un-clean condition will be charged fee from the security deposit.

    Toilet and waste water tanks must be emptied on vehicle return or a fee will be charged from the security deposit. LPG gas bottles are given full on vehicle collection and are to be returned full or a fee per bottle will be charged to the security deposit.

    All traffic fines will be charged against the security deposit with a handling/representation fee per fine.

    Security deposit will be cancelled on vehicle return provided above conditions are met.

    Credit Cards
    If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer. The following credit cards will be accepted: Bankcard, Visa Card, Mastercard, American Express, Diners.

    Licence
    A full resident country drivers licence, held for a least one year, is to be presented at the time of rental. If the licence is not in English format, an international drivers licence is also required.

    Age Restrictions
    Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. A medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive the vehicle they have booked for the duration of the hire is required for drivers over the age of 75.

    Living Equipment
    The Living Equipment (crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, linen, sleeping bags, pillows and towels) for all Motorhomes is included in the daily rental rate at no extra cost.

    Change of Drop-off Destination
    If the hirer wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorisation from the Reservations Centre in Auckland. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge will apply.

    Rental Extension
    If the hirer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from the Reservations Centre in Auckland. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.

    Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a fee in addition to the daily rate. Adventure Deluxe allows a grace period of 24 hours before the hirer is liable for the late return fee.

    Road Restrictions
    Vehicles can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

    Adventure Deluxe reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.

    On-road Assistance
    Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Adventure Deluxe as soon as possible, and within 24 hours in order to give Adventure Deluxe the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so will compromise any claims for compensation. We do not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.

    Repairs
    Repairs up to a pre-determined amount may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. For amounts over this Adventure Deluxe will need to be informed in advance. Repairs will be approved provided the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be paid.

    Change of Vehicle
    Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Adventure Deluxe reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.

    Voluntary Downgrade
    Should the hirer decide to take a smaller vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.

    Cancellation Fee
    Cancellations received more than 21 days prior to the date reservation will be refunded less a 3% administration fee. Reservations cancelled within the 7-21 day period incur a fee being 15% of rental value. Within 7 days 50% of hire will be charged. No shows 100% of hire will be charged.

    Important
    Adventure Deluxe reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.

    Animals
    No animals are permitted in our vehicles.

    Personal and Company Cheques
    Personal and Company cheques will not be accepted as payment for rentals at the time of pick-up. These must be paid to Adventure Deluxe 14 days prior to commencement of rentals. Personal or Company cheques are not acceptable as the vehicle security deposit.
